"Mordrek's age is uncertain. According to myths, it has been around for hundreds of thousands of years. It is known that at some point in the past it and its offspring protected the depths of an ancient underworld kingdom.

It is also unknown who exactly were the people of this kingdom, but according to archaeological research, they managed to control Mordrek and make it obey their commands. They used this monster  as defense and weapon against some of the other kingdoms on the surface. The years passed and this civilization was losing power and influence and with it the control over Mordrek. It is likely that it was Mordrek that freed itself from its dominators and wiped them out.

Free at last, Mordrek and his millions of children were spreading like a plague. The arboreals race members were the first to detect the threat to the world if everything got out of control. In coordination with the first elves, they declared war on the bugs. For months, they were pushing them towards the core of their hive until Mordrek was the only one left, but being at the top of its strength and its opponents being already too weak and tired, the only thing they could do was to put Mordrek in a deep sleep.

As soon as Mordrek began its long dream, around his body an extremely hard shell began to grow that made it almost invulnerable. The arboreals and elves decided to increase the power of the spell that put Mordrek to sleep so that he would never wake up again."
